“Ive learned a lot about this game in the 12 years ive been playing, but theres a ton of stuff i wish I knew waaaay back at the start. I hope this journal of my progress can maybe help inspire one more person to love the game the same way i do…it’s an obsession!”
The SmashFactor

Im a 46 year old golfer (as of 2026) with a handicap index of 13.1 (a very shaky 13.1 at that) and i thought i would document my chase for a single figure handicap. I know thats where i should be, but im not there yet. This journal/blog highlights and outlines the “why” and the “what” the highs, the lows and the whole story behind why i love this game.
Away from golf im a small business owner running a digital marketing agency. Im a husband, a father, a brother, an uncle and a friend. When im not working or doing family stuff im obsessing over golf. Books, videos, YouTube content, podcasts, social media, television, in my head, in the supermarket, at the dentist, in the doctors surgery.
If I dont see you and you see me, youll see my amazingly perfect slow mo golf swing using an umbrella, a baguette, a tennis raquet, a rolled up news paper, a frying pan (by the way…try a frying pan)

How did this all start?
The Smash Factor started with making mental notes. Round-by-round breakdowns, mental-game wins, swing thoughts that worked for one round and never again. Eventually i started writing it all down and it felt it was worth sharing.
If you’re somewhere between ‘I just want to break 90’ and ‘I want to play to a single figure,’ you’ll feel at home here. The honest stuff. The ugly mid-rounds. The small wins. All of it.
